ADSL

ADSL2+ explained

ADSL2+ is an enhanced version of ADSL. Its principal characteristics are increased performance in terms of improved stability and data transfer speeds.

While ADSL provides speeds of ‘up to 8Mbps’, ADSL2+ is capable of delivering speeds of ‘up to 24Mbps’. Furthermore, while ADSL provides a maximum upstream speed of 448Kbps, ADSL2+ allows an uncapped upstream experience, potentially up to 1.4Mbps.

However, like traditional ADSL, it should be noted that ADSL2+ is a rate adaptive product whose speed performance is dependent on factors such as the distance from the exchange and the quality of the line connecting between your premises and the exchange. 3d customers currently experiencing speeds of over 4Mbps on ADSL should see an increase in speed.

However, due to the differences in the nature of the ADSL and ADSL2+ standards there is a possibility of experiencing a lower sync speed. We have the option to return a connection to ADSL should this occur.

Choice of minimum performance levels is also a key feature of 3d’s ADSL2+ products, whereby customers can choose either Standard or Elevated Best Efforts service. While Standard Best Efforts guarantees a minimum download speed of 2Mbps, Elevated Best Efforts provides guaranteed download speeds of at least 3Mbps. These minimum levels of service are guaranteed for 90% of the time over the busiest 3 hour period.

ADSL 2’s faster download speed is expected to have a huge impact on online gaming networks worldwide. It also enables more live video streaming and video conferencing. If you’re unlikely to use any of these facilities, you’ll still notice a difference in speed when you browse the internet, download music or listen to digital radio through your PC.

What is ADSL?
ADSL stands for 'Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line' and provides a faster access internet service over existing copper telephone links. By converting your existing telephone line to take ADSL, you can have the advantage of high speed internet access through an 'always on' service making it much easier to download information from the internet or to share information between offices or remote workers. ADSL services are asymmetric - which means that data flows to you faster than from your system.

How fast is ADSL?

ADSL services can download at up to 8Mb/s and upload up to 832 kb/s, although actual speed will be dependent on various factors including line length and line quality. ADSL provides an always on connection. If you are interested in more details or to buy please click here
